Albert Hofmann self-tested lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD)

On Apr. 16, 1943, Albert Hofmann tested synthesized lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) on himself. LSD-25, as originally known when first synthesized in 1938 by Hoffman while at at Sandoz and was one in a long series of ergot-derived compounds considered promising.
