On Mar. 18, 2021, XPhyto and 3a-diagnostics announced the European approval of its point-of-care SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) RT-PCR test system. Covid-ID Lab was registered within the European Union as a commercial in vitro diagnostic (CE-IVD) test.

During validation of the assay, the limit of detection for SARS-CoV-2 RNA was determined to be 104.73 c/PCR within a 95% confidence interval.
