Washington University scientists decoded the genome of an intestinal parasite that causes hookworm
On Jan. 19, 2014, Washington University scientists announced they had decoded the genome of the hookworm, Necator americanus.
The finding provided clues to how the hookworm infects and survives in humans, and to aid in development of new therapies. The research was published in Nature Genetics.
