VEGF molecule was discovered
In 1993, Massachusetts Eye and Ear researchers discovered the Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) molecule, implicated in diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, the most common forms of blindness.
VEGF is considered the master regulator of angiogenesis during growth and development, as well as in disease states.
