USDA granted Dow AgroSciences the first regulatory approval for a plant-made vaccine

In 2006, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) granted Dow AgroSciences the first regulatory approval for a plant-made vaccine.

The only plant-made vaccine approved by the United States Department of Agriculture to date was a Newcastle disease vaccine for poultry that was produced in suspension-cultured tobacco cells.
