In 1974, the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center (OHSU) was formed as an independent institution under the direction of the Oregon State System of Higher Education. The schools of Dentistry, Medicine and Nursing were brought together to create a new center. The center, located in Portland, becomes Oregon’s only academic health center and one of 125 in the nation.
