University of Alberta researchers discovered the protein PEX3 in the cells of deadly parasite trypanosome
On Aug. 26, 2019, University of Alberta researcher Rick Rachubinski and colleagues announced they had discovered the protein PEX3 in the cells of deadly parasite trypanosome, potentially leading to improved treatment for sleeping sickness and Chagas disease.
The parasite, trypanosome, is transmitted through insect bites. The study was published in Life Science Alliance.
