On Mar. 25, 2017, University of Alberta researchers announced they had discovered the protein Rab32 in the brains of MS patients. The study suggested a deluge of Rab32 is at least one of the culprits involved in sparking the destructive defect.

Multiple sclerosis is a type of autoimmune disease, a disorder in which the body’s own immune system turns against healthy cells. The study results were published in the Journal of Neuroinflammation.
