UK launched whole genome sequence alliance to map spread of coronavirus
On Mar. 23, 2020, the UK Government announced funding of £20 million to support clinicians and scientists in mapping how COVID-19 spread and behaved by using whole genome sequencing.
The Wellcome Sanger Institute collaborate with expert groups across the country to analyse the genetic code of COVID-19 samples circulating in the UK. This data provided public health agencies with a unique tool to combat the virus.
