On Jul. 14, 2023, the UK Animal and Plant Health Agency reported that additional asymptomatic human detections of influenza A (H5N1) were picked up through their surveillance programme of individuals with direct exposure to infected birds.

There were a total of 4 detections through identified through this programme, which was launched in March 2023 and aimed to detect possible animal to human infections in people who were exposed to infected birds.
