Typhoid Vi polysaccharide inactivated injectable polysaccharide vaccine was licensed
On Nov. 28, 1994, the typhoid Vi polysaccharide inactivated injectable polysaccharide vaccine (Typhim Vi by Aventis Pasteur) was licensed.
The incidence of typhoid fever declined steadily in the United States from 1900 to 1960 and has since remained low. From 1975 through 1984, the average number of cases reported annually was 464.
