The US Congress enacted the National Sea Grant College Program Act
On Oct. 15, 1966, the U.S. Congress enacted the National Sea Grant College Program Act. Today, the National Sea Grant program is administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and includes 33 university-based programs involved in scientific research, education, training, and extension projects geared toward the conservation and practical use of the coasts, Great Lakes, and other marine areas.
