On Oct. 13, 2014, the University of Minnesota’s Children’s Hospital was renamed the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in recognition of a $25 million gift from the Minnesota Masonic Charities.
The hospital was previously named for Dr. Kurt Amplatz, an inventor of medical devices who taught at the university for decades, in honor of a $50-million pledge in 2009 by his daughter, Minnesota attorney Caroline Amplatz.
