In 1973, the University of California, San Diego Regional Burn Center opened, serving San Diego and Imperial counties. The presence of the UC San Diego Burn Center in our region means that residents of San Diego and Imperial Counties can receive excellent treatment regardless of whether they have suffered minor or major burn injuries. 

The state-of-the-art facility has an intensive care unit, a special burn care unit and an outpatient clinic for minor burn assessments and treatment. Over 400 patients are admitted to the Center each year with various levels of injury and hundreds more are treated on an outpatient basis.
