In 1908, the University of Alberta in Edmonton opened it doors. The University was founded in 1906 with the passage of the University Act by the Legislature shortly after Alberta became a province.

Today, the university hosts more than 40,000 students and offers more than 200 undergraduate and 500+ graduate programs.
