The U.S. FDA opened its first foreign office in Beijing
On Nov. 19, 2008, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration opened its first foreign office in Beijing to enhance the safety of imported FDA-regulated products.
The office opening followed several scandals that involved contaminated Chinese-made toothpaste, pet food, drugs and milk. The FDA. planned to open inspection stations in Shanghai and Guangzhou.
