The Priestley Medal was awarded to Robert S. Mulliken
On Jul. 5, 1982, the American Chemical Society announced that Robert S. Mulliken had been named the recipient of the 1983 Priestley Medal “to recognize distinguished services to chemistry,’ the highest honor bestowed by the American Chemical Society.”
Mulliken, from the University of Chicago, whose professional interests were spectroscopy, molecular orbital theory, and other areas of physical chemistry.
