The Priestley Medal was awarded to Frank H. Westheimer
On May 25, 1987, the American Chemical Society announced that Frank H. Westheimer had been named the recipient of the 1988 Priestley Medal ‘for his numerous contributions to chemistry.”
Westheimer was the first physical organic chemist to do serious studies of biochemical reactions and is considered a founder in the field of bio-organic chemistry.
