The Priestley Medal was awarded to Carl Djerassi
In 1992, the American Chemical Society awarded the Priestley Medal to Carl Djerassi ‘for his numerous contributions to chemistry,” the Society’s most prestigious award.
Djerassi, who was a chemistry professor at Stanford University, retired as an active research chemist to pursue numerous other interests before the award was made.
