In 1994, The Oregon Regional Primate Research Center becomes an Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) research affiliate. The Primate Center, originally owned and operated by the Medical Research Foundation of Oregon (MRF), was transferred to OHSU after the  MRF merger with the Oregon Health Sciences Foundation.

The MRF research seed grant program had grown to over one million dollars, the majority going to faculty of the Medical School.
