The Openness Promotes Effectiveness in our National Government Act of 2007 amended the Freedom of Information Act
On Dec. 31, 2007, the U.S. Congress passed the Openness Promotes Effectiveness in our National Government Act, or the OPEN Government Act, amended the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to revise requirements for federal agency disclosures of information requested under that Act.
The aim of this bill is to speed up the FOIA process for public access to government documents. (P.L. 110-175).
