In 1938, The Medical College of Virginia opened a new laboratory and outpatient clinic (A. D. Williams Memorial Clinic). The building was constructed with a Public Works Administration grant of $239,850 under the Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal.
In 1952, Randolph Minor Hall was completed, and eventually named for Agnes Dillon Randolph, the granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson, and Nannie Jacqueline Minor — both women were students at the School of Nursing. In 1963, Sanger Hall was completed and named in honor of the dean of the school of medicine.
