In 1980, The Mary Brigh Building, one of the Mayo’s largest expansion projects, opened. The addition added a 50-room surgical suite and more than 100 new intensive care beds to the hospital.

In 2016, an investment of $92.7 million in facilities and equipment was announced across the Mayo Clinic through 2017. The investment ensured patients from across the globe will find the world-class accommodations and whole-person care they have come to expect.
