The Jon M Huntsman family donated $125 million to the Huntsman Cancer Institute

On Apr. 26, 2000, Jon M. Huntsman, a billionaire industrialist, announced that he would give $125-million to a cancer institute at the University of Utah that already bears his name. The announcement brings his total giving to the institute to $225-million and his total giving to the university to nearly $250-million.

Jon M. Huntsman was Chair and CEO, Huntsman Corporation located in Salt Lake City. Huntsman worked in the Nixon administration as a White House staff secretary and special assistant. He was later involved in the egg distribution business where he developed the polystyrene egg carton. This led to formation of Huntsman Container Corporation.
