The Institute for Systems Biology was founded in Seattle
On Oct. 12, 1999, the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) was founded in Seattle by Alan Aderem, Ruedi Aebersold, and Leroy Hood. A non-profit research institute, ISB was established on the belief that conventional models for exploring and funding breakthrough science have not caught up with their potential.
To date, ISB had spun-off eight companies and in 2016, ISB and Providence Health & Services announced an affiliation to bring personalized medicine to patients through collaborative research and clinical care.
