The Harold C Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center was founded
In 1991, the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center was founded. Simmons Cancer Center is built on a foundation of basic science excellence at the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center.
In 1987, Dallas businessman Harold C. Simmons and his wife, Annette, already generous supporters of UT, committed $41 million to transform cancer research and care.
Today, the Center serves Dallas-Fort Worth and surrounding counties in North Texas, a metropolitan area encompassing a racially and ethnically diverse population of nearly 7 million people.
