On Jun. 26, 2012, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) responded to a multi-state outbreak of salmonella infections associated with raw tuna. This included the Salmonella Bareilly and Salmonella Nchanga strains.
The outbreak began Mar. 4 when the NY State Department of Health notified the CDC’s Outbreak Response Team (ORT) of a cluster of 4 ill persons infected with Salmonella Bareilly with the same unusual pulsed-field gel electrophoresis pattern.
