The Biological Laboratory (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory) was founded
In 1890, the Biological Laboratory, now known as Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) was founded by the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences as a summer program for the education of college and high school science teachers.
CHSL, home to eight Nobel Prize winners, is a private, not-for-profit laboratory that employs more than 1,100 people including 600 scientists, students and technicians.
