The Allen Brain Atlas project was established with $100 million and named for its founder Paul G Allen
On Sept. 16, 2003, The Allen Institute for Brain Science, a division of the Allen Institute, was established with seed funding of $100 million from founder and philanthropist Paul G. Allen, a Microsoft Corp. co-founder. The Allen Institute is driven by founder Paul Allen’s vision: to map an entire mammalian brain in a way the world had never seen.
The Allen Institute for Brain Science is an independent nonprofit medical research organization with the mission to accelerate the understanding of how the human brain works in health and disease.
