The Agricultural College of the State of Montana was founded as the state’s land-grant college
On Feb. 16, 1893, the Agricultural College of the State of Montana was founded as the state’s land-grant college. In the 1920’s, the college became known as Montana State College and remained so until Jul. 1, 1965, when, in recognition of the advances in the College’s commitment to scientific and humanistic research, the state Legislature changed the college’s name to Montana State University (MSU).
