Results from the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial showed men taking finasteride had 25 percent fewer diagnoses of prostate cancer than men taking placebo
On Jul. 17, 2003, the results from the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial (PCPT) were published in New England Joural of Medicine. The study shoed that Finasteride prevents or delays the appearance of prostate cancer, but this possible benefit and a reduced risk of urinary problems must be weighed against sexual side effects and the increased risk of high-grade prostate cancer.
