On Apr. 7, 2020, the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) announced that it is leading an international team of scientists that may help in producing large amounts of vaccine in the fight against COVID-19. Peter Waterhouse, an Australian Laureate Fellow, has developed a roadmap for biologists and biotechnologists who are turning to the new technique of producing antibodies, vaccines and therapeutics, including those for COVID-19, in plants.
