President Eisenhower swore in Leroy EBurney as US Surgeon General
On Aug. 8, 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower swore in Leroy E.Burney as U.S. Surgeon General. Eisenhower nominated Burney on a recess appointment that was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in Jan. 1957.
