On Oct. 14, 1923, plans were announced for Doernbecher Memorial Hospital for Children. Frank S. Doernbecher was a Portland businessmen that in 1921 left $200,000 through his will to be administered by his daughter Ada and son Edward, to benefit the people of Oregon.
