On Aug. 12, 2010, OriGene Technologies based in Rockville, Maryland, announced the acquisition of Blue Heron Biotechnology, a pioneer in the gene synthesis business. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Blue Heron was one of the oldest and most successful gene synthesis companies in the world, providing customers solutions for complex DNA synthesis.
