Monoclonal antibodies first produced by Georges Kohler and Cesar Milstein

In 1975, Georges Kohler and Cesar Milstein, showed how monoclonal antibodies can be generated by isolating individual fused myeloma cells.

The 1984 Nobel Laureate in Medicine was awarded jointly to: Niels Jerne, Georges Kohler and Cesar Milstein for theories concerning the specificity in development and control of the immune system and the discovery of the principle for production of monoclonal antibodies.
