Microbot Medical acquired Stem Cells, Inc

On Nov. 28, 2016, Stem Cells, Inc. was acquired by Isreal-based Microbot Medical. Following the completion of the merger and one-for-nine reverse stock split there were approximately 39 million shares of common stock outstanding.

In 1997, Stem Cells, Inc. and CTI merged. Cellular Transplants was founded in Providence in 1989. The company, initially known as CytoTherapeutics’ developed products based on the company’s proprietary CRIB(tm) membrane technology targeted for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and Type I diabetes.
