In 1916, the Memorial Arches chemistry building was built on the University of Oklahoma (OU) campus. The class of 1915 constructed a memorial arch of brick and stone at the West side of the entrance to the Oval.

Today, this public university enrolls 29,000 students and offers 152 majors from fifteen colleges. The school also has a campus in Oklahoma City, which houses the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
