
Medical College of Georgia researchers identified enzyme role in preventing a mother’s immune system from rejecting a fetus
On Sept. 8, 1998, the Medical College of Georgia researchers Dr. David Munn and immunologist Andrew Melllor identified enzyme IDO’s role in preventing a mother’s immune system from rejecting a fetus. Their work demonstrated how tumors use IDO to protect themselves, leading to IDO suppression as a cancer therapy.
