MCSC Professor of Surgery Horace G Smithy designed valvulotome and pioneered mitral valve surgery
In 1947, MCSC Assistant Professor of Surgery Horace G. Smithy designed valvulotome and pioneered mitral valve surgery. Smithyﾒs was a victim of rheumatic aortic and mitral stenosis and died at the age of 34, in 1948.
