On Jan. 21, 2009, the Knight Cancer Institute announced the recruitment of lung oncology expert Alan Sandler, M.D., chief of hematology/medical oncology to the Institute’s staff.

Sandler was previously medical director of thoracic oncology at Vanderbilt University. Oregon Health & Science University is the state’s only health and research university, and Oregon’s only academic health center.
