In 1935, Lawrence Kolb, dean of the country’s addiction researchers, reported a series of studies on innovative treatment for drug addicts who were patients in the Public Health Service Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Kolb was the first medical superintendent of the federal narcotic hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, which opened in 1935.
