Ida A Bengtson discovered a new variety of Clostridium botulinum designated as type “C”
In 1922, Ida A. Bengtson discovered a new variety of Clostridium botulinum. This strain was designated as type “C.” Bengtson also was the first woman hired to work in the U.S. Public Health Service’s Hygienic Laboratory, at the National Institutes of Health.
