Government of Canada and partners invested $18 million in crucial microbiome research

On Jan. 30, 2019, the Government of Canada announced an investment of $18 million over five years in microbiome research. This investment supported seven research teams from across the country that  studied the microbiome to better understand its contribution to childhood asthma, cervical cancer, diabetes, youth inflammatory bowel disease, and maternal malnutrition.

The investment also helped establish a Microbiome Research Core at the University of Calgary.
