In 1957, Gilson was founded in in Middleton by Dr. Warren Gilson, a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. In 1963, the company opened a manufacturing facility, northeast of Paris, France. In 2013, Pure Lab Plastics, a laboratory plastics manufacturer, joined the Gilson organization and that same year, another manufacturing facility was opened in Vannes, France.
