In 1982, George Streisinger at the University of Oregon (UO) cloned the first vertebrate — a zebrafish. Streisinger was a professor and biologist at the University of Oregon conducting his research on the cloned zebra fish, where his work made great contributions to the study of biology.
The UO houses the Zebrafish International Resource Center, a central distribution center for zebrafish worldwide.
