Florentine scholar Francesco Rondinelli described the use of the “Wine Windows” to prevent the spread of the Plague

In 1634, the Florentine scholar, Francesco Rondinelli, wrote a report about a disease contagion, now known as the Black Death or Plague, which described the use of the “abundant Wine Windows” in the city for the safe sale of wine, without direct contact between client and seller.

During the Covid-10 pandemic, many bars, wineries, coffee shops and restaurants began offering similar window delivery options as a safe form of social distancing to prevent the spread of the Covid-10 virus.
