Emory University School of Medicine received a $500,000 grant from CDC to research children’s recovery from mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI)
On Jan. 7, 2019, the Emory University School of Medicine received a $500,000 grant from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to research childrenメs recovery from mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).
Approximately 640,000 children 14 years and younger have TBI-related emergency department visits annually, according to the CDC. Urgent care centers and primary care physicians also evaluate and manage patients with mTBI. More than 80 percent of TBI is classified as mTBI, or concussion.
