In 1950, Drs. Edward C. Kendall and Philip S. Hench at the Mayo Clinic, along with Tadeus Reichstein, a Swiss biochemist, shared the Nobel Prize in medicine for their work in isolating cortisone and applying it clinically in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
