In 1938, Dr. Armand Frappier, at the Institut de Microbiologie et d’Hygiene de Montreal, conducted the first studies to validate the tuberculosis vaccine becomng an advocate for full-scale, anti-tuberculosis vaccinations in North America using the BCG vaccine. This innovative work resulted in vaccine records that are still used for epidemiological studies linking vaccination to unexpected beneficial effects.

The Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine that protects against tuberculosis (TB) and other mycobacterial infections. It’s the only vaccine that prevents TB.
